Understand the limited analytics used by a11y examples, the third-party resources the site loads, and how to avoid sharing personal data in public reports.
What data does this site process?
a11y examples does not provide user accounts, advertising, payments, or an on-site contact form. The production site loads an analytics script from a self-hosted Umami service at umami.kportal.to to understand aggregate site usage and improve the educational content. The tracker is restricted to a11y-examples.com, does not set analytics cookies, respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting, and does not collect URL query strings or fragments.
The analytics service may receive ordinary web-request information such as the requested page, referring domain, browser and device characteristics, approximate country or region, and network information needed to deliver the request. It also records aggregate Core Web Vitals such as loading speed, responsiveness, and layout stability.
The site records a small set of interactions: copying an example, opening the predicted semantics explorer, using site search, and following GitHub, sponsor, or external reference links. These events use fixed categories such as the example identifier, good/bad variant, result-count range, link location, or destination domain. Search terms, copied code, explorer content, link text, email addresses, and other free-form input are never sent to analytics.
Analytics records for this site are retained for 13 months. The site does not use analytics to identify individual visitors, build advertising profiles, replay sessions, or create heatmaps.
How are technical errors handled?
The production site uses a self-hosted GlitchTip service at glitchtip.kportal.to to receive unhandled browser errors from the predicted semantics explorer and other interactive code. Error reports include the release, page path, browser runtime, and technical stack trace needed to diagnose a failure. User identity, cookies, request bodies, form values, query strings, URL fragments, interaction breadcrumbs, and performance traces are not sent. Source maps are uploaded privately during the build and are not served as public site files.
What third-party services are linked?
Pages link to external references, including W3C, MDN, WebAIM, GitHub, and assistive-technology documentation. Following those links is subject to each destination’s own privacy practices. The maintainer’s public profile is hosted by GitHub; the project does not claim a public repository or issue tracker.
The site does not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising pixels, session replay, or third-party behavioural profiling. Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools receive only the information those search engines normally process while crawling and presenting the public site.
What should I avoid sharing?
Do not send passwords, health information, private user data, or other sensitive information in a report. If you include diagnostic information, remove personal data first.
